Mrs Calcutt, Mr Carr and I are very much looking forward to our trip to Kingswood next month. We have decided to take the children to Leeds Castle before we arrive at the Kingswood Centre in Ashford for our activity weekend. The cost for coach travel and the entrance to the castle is £50 per child, this must be paid by our departure date.
On Friday 18th May all children need to be at school for 8.30am as we hope to arrive at Leeds Castle ready for when they open. We shall be leaving the centre after lunchtime on Monday 21st May so should be back at school, traffic permitting, by 3 pm. Please watch your parking and remember to leave room outside school for the coach on both days.
Please provide a packed lunch for your child, no glass bottles please. Sweets are allowed as this is a holiday. We do allow the children a midnight feast on their last night so extra snacks in their suitcases are encouraged.
The children can have spending money for Leeds Castle, we suggest no more than £10. There are small souvenirs to buy when we’re at the centre, we recommend giving the children £20 for tuck and gifts at Kingswood. We know that the children like to bring back gifts so if you have a large family and would like to send extra money for presents you are of course allowed to. All money must be in a named purse or wallet and handed in to me on the coach.
Below is a kit list. Please write your child’s name in everything they bring and remember only old clothes for activities as there is a possibility they are going to get muddy. Please bring something warm to wear as the evenings may be chilly. We ask that everyone takes their teddy bear.
Mobile phones are NOT ALLOWED. Please do not encourage your child to take a phone as it will be confiscated. We ask that your child bring nothing more than a Nintendo DS or similar as they are responsible for it. I know the children will be tempted to bring their i-pods or iPads but these are expensive items, we are not the only school at the centre so we do try and discourage children from bringing any high value items, please no DVD players.
We will be on the coach for an hour or so both Friday and Monday so if your child needs travel sickness pills or bags please make sure they have them. Please hand any medication for your child to me to look after for the duration of the trip. Please make sure any medication has your child’s name on it and is accompanied by details of when it should be taken.
Our contact mobile number for the trip is 07449541348, which is my personal number, please feel free to check our progress at any time. I must ask you not to phone on Friday until after 8pm, as it takes a while to get the children settled in their rooms and unpacked.
We have not yet been sent a list of our activities but are sure there will be something for everyone. We will have a meeting with the children nearer the time and will let them know our itinerary then and which group they will be in for activities. If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to come and see me.
I am sure the children will have a fantastic time.
