Science Museum Trip: Form II

Posted on February 21, 2017 by Chartfield School in Form II, School Trips

Form II will be going on a trip to London to visit the Science Museum on Thursday 9th March. We have been studying the History of Medicine in History since September, and this term we are studying Light and Energy in Science.

We will be visiting the Journeys Through Medicine exhibition and much more. From pacemakers to paracetamol, medicine shapes all of our lives by identifying, preventing and treating an ever-widening range of illnesses. It can be easy to forget that medical interventions have not always been so effective or freely available as they are today. But the Science Museum’s medicine collection reminds us of the tragedites and triumphs of our long search for good health, and the ever-changing nature of medicine.

We have an early start and will be leaving school by coach at 7am sharp. We are booked in to start our day at 10am. The cost of the trip will be £15 per child, as we will be asking the PTFA to help towards the cost of travel. The children will need a packed lunch in a backpack, not carrier bag, and no glass bottles please. We aim to be back at school for 4.30pm. There is a shop, which the children will be able to visit: we would suggest no more than £10 spending money.

This is a great opportunity for the children to get a closer look into History and Science. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks,
Mrs Calcutt
