The school day begins at 8.30am. Children are required to be in school by 8.50am, in time for the 9am Assembly.
We respectfully ask our parents to park considerably, sensibly and safely outside when dropping off and collecting their children, and that they please keep control of their children outside the school gates at all times.
If a child is absent, parents are requested to telephone the school before 9am, and provide a letter on their child’s return to school. Should a child be taken ill whilst at school, parents are asked to ensure that we have a contact telephone number. In the event of a more serious accident, a child will be taken to hospital immediately.
The school day finishes at 3.30pm, though extra-curricular clubs are generally held after school on most days. These finish between 4.30 and 4.45pm. Parents are asked to inform the school if someone other than themselves will be collecting their child/children at the end of the school day (a taxi, for example). This is so that Chartfield can ensure the safety of all children.
We at Chartfield recommend a reasonable bedtime be kept, preferably no latter than 8.30pm for children in Form II. Studies have shown that children perform better when they’ve had adequate sleep. Furthermore, personal effects be brought to school at parents own risk: we cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to personal effects incurred when children are in attendance.
All items must be clearly marked with name tape. Correct uniform is essential, not just for the good name of the school, but in maintaining a child’s self-esteem and sense of belonging to the school community.
