Autumn Term 2018 Newsletter
I would like to officially welcome you all back for the Autumn Term. I hope you have all had a restful Summer break and that all the children are ready for a very busy term. We have many new children starting with us this term and I would like to extend a very warm Chartfield welcome to them and their families. As we welcome so many in it is with sadness that we must say goodbye to Mr Carr. He has made the difficult decision to leave Chartfield for personal reasons and I feel sure you would like to join the staff in wishing him well. We are currently interviewing for his replacement and assure you that every effortwill be made to find an exceptional teacher and between the safe hands of Mrs Berry and Mrs Neale the disruption to the Kindergarten class will be minimal.
The Government guidelines on attendance remain clear; please refrain from taking your holidays during the term. As always please may I ask that you consider very carefully any decisions made with regards to holidays during the academic year. Absence causes many problems for children socially and academically. We feel that our holidays are more than long enough and would therefore ask that children not be removed from school. I do understand that sometimes an absence is required for extenuating circumstances and I am available, as always, to discuss any queries you may have regarding this matter.
A polite reminder that school lunches should be as healthy as possible and brought to school in a box or tin, not a carrier bag. We would ask that you do not pack sweets or bars of chocolate in the children’s lunch boxes, as the children will not be allowed to eat them. We consider a Kit Kat to be a chocolate biscuit but a plain bar of dairy milk is not suitable; if you are unsure of anything, please do not hesitate to ask.
A reminder about parking, please park considerately. Do not park over our neighbours drive ways and please do not park on the other side of the road. We are very fond of all of our children and would hate for there to be an accident.
Swimming will continue on a Tuesday for all children from Year 1 to Year 6 and for the children in Kindergarten on a Thursday. Yoga will as always be on Wednesday afternoons and Dance as usual on a Friday. Swimming is part of the Curriculum and should be treated as any other lesson. We politely discourage spectators. We are happy however for you to come and watch the progress your child has made at the last session each term. The cost for the extra activities this term will be £95, which includes the coach travel, a big thank you to Carol Peters, for full time children in Kindergarten the cost will be £85. P.E kit must be worn to school on swimming days and brought to school on both Wednesday and Friday.
